#93 Hobby: Crafty goodness

93) Find a hobby. Painting, singing, tai chi—it doesn’t matter as long as you have an outlet to express yourself. (the happy list)

So a couple of weeks ago I found craftgawker, signed up for Etsy, and joined Pinterest! So I got super inspired to get crafty! I have always been "artsy fartsy." I love making things, especially gifts for other people. Sorecently, I have used my mason jar obsessionas an excuse to get creative and make some gifts for others....along the wayI dabbled in other craft projects that looked simple and cheap enough to try at my house. Below are pictures of my most recent adventures in Crafty Goodness. I love how everything turned out and those that received these things as gifts seemed pleased :)

Sprayed old and ugly frames. Now they are delightful :)
Sprayed outside of Bell Mason Jars (new from Kroger). Covered tops with pictures from pages in old encyclopedias (from Goodwill).
Sprayed inside of smaller jelly Mason jars (new from Kroger).
Scrapbooking paper cut and taped to tops.
Modge podged scrapbook paper and encyclopedia pages to candles.
Definitions of educator and teacher modged podged with other positive saying and teachery things.
A load of end of the year gifts--fun and CHEAP! (Tags provided by my dear friend Kelly Conklin--she is sweet and made them for my crocheted items this winter. Multipurpose now)!
This is a project I did for a traveling friend who has lived in these 4 cities that are very dear to her. I printed them on photo paper, taped them to card stock, and framed in free frame given to me by another friend). *see the original tutorial on this project HERE.
Up close of Charlotte, where we met :)
I am VERY PROUD of these!! OLD Bell Mason jars from the flea market (older one $9, newer one $3). See the original tutorial on this project HERE.
I put a hole through the zinc lid with a hammer and nail. I had to make the whole larger enough (with pliers) to fit the pump in.
I hot glued the pump in place and filled the jar with dish washing soap. Keeping the older one for me and taking one to my Momma :) Notice sprayed mason jar for flower vase...love those.
I even set up a new crafting area in the office! It is nice to have an area to store things and just to sit, create, and be messy! The black and silver frames hold new prints I got from The Spotted Fox. I love them, super inspiring as I move into grad school phase of life.

So that is the latest and greatest from my side. I am loving my crafting hobby. It is mos def a great outlet for after work brain and I can't wait to broaden my horizons this summer. Especially with the boys I nanny for, I have some exciting kiddo crafts to try out.

What are your hobbies? What do you do to get distracted from drama? What do you create?
